Books enable us to enter new worlds, virtual worlds, says Rainer Just, President of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations
I read because I must read – for information and for professional reasons. The faster I read the better; the faster I understand what I read, even better still. I earn a big share of my salary through reading. So, I survive because I am reading, says Mr Rainer Just, President of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations.
Mr Just added: “Today one cannot really understand what is presented to us in the Internet without reading. But what I am most in favour of is reading for my own entertainment and pleasure. Books enable us to enter new worlds, virtual worlds. It is cinema in your head. So I very much welcome that you caught me reading a book of my youth, which is still alive in my head, and makes me younger every time I read it again. If you want to enter a new world and to learn to know it and to learn what fellowship or friendship could mean you have to read this book: The Fellowship of the Ring, Volume 1 of the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien!”
