Bruno Racine, President of the Bibiothèque Nationale de France, of the Conference of European National Librarians, of Europeana, for the “Get Caught Reading” campaign
Every day, I receive a great many books. That which I hold in my hand is a work by a French writer of Chinese origin. His Cinq méditations sur la beauté (Five Meditations on Beauty) are like a bridge thrown between the Orient and the West. A few pages are enough to make me want to read the entire book. Reading fuels itself; in the end, to put it briefly, it is inseparable from life itself – it is also for me the condition of writing, says Mr Bruno Racine, President of the Bibiothèque Nationale de France, of the Conference of European National Librarians, of Europeana.
