Santiago Fisas Ayxelà, MEP, for the “Get Caught Reading” campaign
Josep Pla is the most renowned prose writer of the Catalan literature of the 20th century. He was an important journalist who worked as a correspondent abroad and as a reporter for political affairs, says Mr Santiago Fisas Ayxelà, Member of the European Parliament.
El quadern gris, published in 1966, is the first volume of Pla’s complete works that had more than 40 volumes. It talks about Catalan society, traditions and politics at the beginning of the 20th century in a very rich and attainable language.
I am now re-reading an updated edition by Narcis Garolera, which is a very faithful version of what Pla wrote, explained Mr Fisas Ayxelà.
